1940 New York Yankees Team Signed Baseball. Well toned vintage baseball is signed by 22 members of the 1940 New York Yankees. The team would win an unprecedented four straight World Series titles from 1936 to 1939 .Gehrig was forced to retire because of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis in 1939 .We believe the ball to have been signed in spring training of 1940, due to Art Jorgens(1939 last year), and Tiny Bonham (1940 rookie year) both having signed the ball. Regulars Bill Dickey (C), Babe Dahlgren (1B), Joe Gordon (2B), Frank Crosetti (SS), Charlie Keller (OF), Joe DiMaggio (OF), Red Ruffing (SP) (sweetspot), Spud Chandler (SP), Marius Russo (SP), Ernest "Tiny" Bonham (SP), Monte Pearson (SP), Johnny Murphy (CL) and Bump Hadley (RP) join teammates Jake Powell, Tommy Henrich, Buddy Rosar and Bill Knickerbocker, Art Jorgans among others. The Lefty Gomez signature has been deemed clubhouse. JSA Auction LOA.
