    Description

1939 New York Yankees Team Signed Baseball. A fourth consecutive World Championship season for the Yanks, though the 1939 Yankees campaign is best remembered for Lou Gehrig's tearful farewell on Independence Day. He is properly remembered on this ball with the sweet spot application of a clubhouse autograph, as has Lefty Gomez (3/10), though the other twenty-three signatures sharing space on the "Official Joe DiMaggio League Ball" are the genuine article. Most notable are Gordon (9/10), Ruffing (5/10), Henrich (3/10), Dahlgren (9/10). The bulk of the balance rates approximately 5/10, though a few teeter at the brink of invisibility. Ball is shellacked. Auction LOA from JSA.
