Description

1939 New York Yankees Team Signed Baseball with Gehrig. There was clearly something very wrong with the unfailingly durable Gehrig as he reported for Spring Training at the start of baseball's Centennial season, and with each passing day the hope that it was merely an aging ballplayer shaking off a long winter's dust faded a bit more. Presented is a team ball signed during that final trip down to St. Petersburg, one of a very few 1939 World Championship team balls bearing Gehrig's mark. His 5/10 black fountain pen autograph is joined by twenty-six teammates', including Gordon, Dickey, Ruffing, Dahlgren, Henrich, Pearson, Hadley, Rolfe and more (no DiMaggio). Gomez appears in secretarial format. Autographs average 5/10 in strength, though a few are quite difficult to read. Medium is an "Official Joe DiMaggio League Ball." Full LOA from James Spence Authentication. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
