1939 National League All-Star Team Signed Baseball. The seventh edition of the Midsummer Classic finally made its way to baseball's greatest stage, bringing baseball's best to the Bronx field where Lou Gehrig had delivered his heart-wrenching farewell just one week earlier. Outstanding pitching kept this meeting a low-scoring affair, with the Nationals only managing to plate a single baserunner in a three to one loss. Seventeen members of the reunited squad applied their names to this OAL (Cronin) baseball, likely signed when the game returned to Yankee Stadium in 1960. Present are Medwick, Hartnett, Lombardi, Terry, Herman, Walters, Derringer, Vander Meer and more. Signature quality is a consistent 7/10 to 9/10 throughout. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
