1939 American League All-Star Team Signed Baseball. In proper deference to the great Iron Horse, whose heartwrenching farewell took place upon the same Yankee Stadium diamond that would host the All-Star Game exactly a week later, Gehrig's secretarial signature was added to this OAL (Harridge) ball listing the best the Centennial season had to offer. The tragic Yankee, along with fellow Hall of Famer Lefty Gomez, are the only autographs here not penned in the superstar's own hand, with Foxx, Dickey, Ruffing, Feller, Appling, Grove, Cronin, DiMaggio and Greenberg the genuine article. Twenty-two signatures are here in total, averaging 8/10, with none dropping below an entirely legible 6/10. The ball remains remarkably white and clean, with a surprising lack of toning. July of 1939, what a month it was! LOA from PSA/DNA.
