Description

1938 Brooklyn Dodgers Team Signed Baseball with Babe Ruth. Still chasing his dream to manage a Big League ballclub, the great Bambino accepted the position of first base coach for the the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1938, though it would not prove to be the stepping stone he had hoped. In the end, Ruth's employment was revealed to be little more than a publicity stunt, a ploy to put fans in the stands to watch the forty-three year old Sultan swat a few batting practice home runs prior to the main event. Here he joins the team for which he wore his last Major League uniform, applying a simply unimprovable black fountain pen signature to the sweet spot of a "Worth Official League" ball. Sixteen join Ruth, most notably Durocher, Camilli, Lavagetto, Koy and Hassett. Signature quality averages 8/10, thanks in large part to a thin coating of shellac which has served its intended purpose admirably. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
