Description

1934 Tour of Japan Team Signed Baseballs--Both the American and Japanese Teams! Extraordinary pairing is almost certainly the finest of its kind, a truly magnificent duo from the most consequential foreign excursion in the history of our National Pastime. While team balls from the All-Star cast of globetrotting Americans appear on the hobby's auction block with some limited degree of regularity, few have survived in such fine condition as the offered model. Eighteen autographs adorn the "Tamazawa" brand "Official American Ball," the precise model used in all competition during that Depression-era Tour. Babe Ruth claims proper sweet spot honors, joined by the full cast of characters: Gehrig, Foxx, Mack, Gomez, Averill, Gehringer, O'Doul and the catcher/spy Moe Berg, among others. All but a small handful rate 7/10 or better.

But never before have we encountered a ball autographed by one of the American team's hosts, the black ink signatures all registering 9/10 or better but identifiable only to those able to read Japanese (except for the first American to play pro ball in Japan, Hawaiian Jimmy Horio). Also present is the original cylindrical packaging for the Japanese team ball. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
