1934 Tour of Japan Team Signed Baseball with Rare Japanese Packaging. If you've ever wondered how our National Pastime became a Japanese obsession, it all began with these gentlemen, who spread the gospel of the game with many of the Major Leagues' top stars after the close of the 1934 season. Here we present a highly collectible relic from that expedition, a Japanese manufactured horsehide orb autographed by a dozen intrepid Americans. The roster: Ruth, Gehrig, Foxx, Gehringer, Gomez, Mack, Averill, McNair, Warstler, O'Doul, Brown and Quinn. A vintage coating of shellac has admirably accomplished its intent, preserving the signatures at an impressive 7/10 to 8/10 average. Included is a very cool cardboard cylinder which once held four Japanese baseballs of the kind used on the tour. It's the first of its kind we've encountered, exhibiting some soiling and handling wear but otherwise solid. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
