    Description

1934 New York Yankees Team Signed Baseball.
A decade and a half of pinstriped service would come to an end this year for a man whose influence upon the New York Yankees, and upon baseball at large, remains unparalleled to this day. His skills in decline, worn down by thirty-nine years on Earth and two decades of hard living in the Major Leagues, the Babe accepted a pay cut from Jake Ruppert for the 1934 season but remained the highest-paid player in the game. He lobbied throughout the season for the managerial position, but Ruppert remained loyal to Joe McCarthy and made it clear to Ruth that a minor league post was the best he could offer.

Twenty signatures join Ruth's on the provided horsehide, though we confess that Gehrig, Gomez, McCarthy and Fletcher are of the secretarial variety. Other notables include Dickey, Combs, Crosetti, Byrd, Lary, Jorgens and more. Ruth and about two-thirds of the signatures rate approximately 7/10, with the balance ranging from 1/10 to 5/10. "Babe Ruth Home Run Special" ball has been shellacked, resulting in a gorgeous, amber tone. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
