    Description

1934 Hall of Famers Multi-Signed Baseball with Ruth, Gehrig. The Heydler presidential stamping paired with the solid red stitching of this ONL ball allows us to pinpoint the vintage directly to the final season of pinstriped service for the game's greatest figure, the iconic Babe Ruth. His black fountain pen autograph is one of twenty discernible signatures sealed beneath a vintage coating of shellac on this Depression-era horsehide, presumably signed at some form of baseball banquet due to the range of teams represented. Ruth's signature is among the boldest of the bunch, with some surface wear marginally affecting the otherwise 8/10 strength, and his buddy Lou on the adjacent panel is perhaps 6/10. The World Championship Gashouse Gang is represented by Dean, Frisch, Rip Collins, Tex Carleton and Pepper Martin, and may suggest this ball was signed at some sort of celebration for the team. But then signatures from the likes of Travis Jackson, Gabby Hartnett, Pie Traynor, Joe Cronin, Bill Terry, Paul Waner and Carl Hubbell once again muddy the theme. Autographs average 2/10 to 5/10. Not a pristine sphere, but an extraordinary compilation of pre-war legends and an homage to one of the century's most celebrated Championship squads. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
