Description

1934 Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig & Rogers Hornsby Signed Baseball. The Babe's handwritten date on the panel beneath his 8/10 black fountain pen sweet spot signature reads either "May 7, 1934" or "May 9, 1934," both of which would be correct for a Yankee meeting with the St. Louis Browns, whose greatest star Rogers Hornsby likewise appears on the OAL (Harridge) sphere in 8/10 ink. The mystery would likely be solved by researching which date saw the Iron Horse go deep at Sportsman's Park, as Gehrig's 7/10 side panel autograph is underscored by his handwritten notation "1-HR." The apparent game use on this ball, and a couple sizeable scuffs such as one might expect on a hard-hit ball that landed in the seats, suggests this may in fact be the ball Lou clubbed for his round-tripper, but we couldn't state this definitively. But even as a simple signed baseball blessed by the hands of three legends of the sport, this is a lot worthy of attention. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
