1930's-70's Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig & Hank Aaron Signed Baseball. For decades, this Official American League sphere sported a selection of autographs, most notably the classic pairing of New York Yankees sluggers Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. The Babe, of course, occupies his standard sweet spot position, in 5/10 black fountain pen ink, with the Iron Horse just a touch lighter to his north. Other autographs on the ball were removed. Later, in the aftermath of Hank Aaron's remarkable assumption of the Babe's career home run record, the ball was revived from its slumber for presentation to the Braves outfielder, who signed the panel to Ruth's south in 8/10 black ink. A notation in an unknown hand just below assigns the autograph to "8/6/74," a date that saw Hank hammer his 727th and 728 career long ball. A coating of shellac tones the surface of the ancient horsehide, and the ball is firmly encased in a vintage display cube. Surely it could be extricated if desired, but we'll leave that decision up to the winning bidder. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
