1930 Boston Reunion Signed Baseball with Cy Young, James Collins. Twenty-two thousand spectators came out to pay their respects to retired greats of the game and support a charitable cause as Boston Braves Field played host to a benefit game for a local children's hospital and destitute retired ballplayers. Boston players from both the Braves and Red Sox faced off against stars from other teams. As this ONL (Heydler) ball confirms, the cast of characters was remarkable. Perhaps most noteworthy is the 8/10 black fountain pen autograph of James Collins, the first manager of the Red Sox and posthumous 1945 Baseball Hall of Fame inductee. His signature is one of the toughest in Cooperstown, particularly in this format. Also present here and in the Hall: Cy Young (7/10), Hugh Duffy (7/10), Tris Speaker (8/10), Eddie Collins (2/10), Harry Hooper (4/10), Ed Walsh (5/10), Ty Cobb (8/10) and Fred Clarke (5/10). Other notables include Duffy Lewis, Nick Altrock, Hank Gowdy, Stuffy McInnes, Fred Tenney. All listed names are quite readily legible, while a few others challenge the eyes. One of the greatest assemblies of Dead Ball talent you'll find on horsehide, and perhaps the only James Collins. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
