    Description

1929 Babe Ruth & Lou Gehrig Signed Baseball to Mayor of San Francisco. An early reconnaissance mission to start planning his city's theft of the Giants? We aren't sure why the Mayor of San Francisco was in the Big Apple, but New York clearly rolled out the red carpet for the visiting dignitary, introducing him to the two greatest athletic stars of the city. Presented is a memento of that meeting, an OAL (Barnard) ball bearing the Bambino's lengthy inscription, "Best wishes our pal Mayor Rolph of San Francisco, Babe Ruth, New York, July 24th 1929." Gehrig simply adds his autograph low on the sweet spot. The Bambino and the Iron Horse rate 7/10 and 4/10 respectively. The Mayor would witness the Yanks defeat the visiting Detroit Tigers by a tally of seven to five in the Bronx this day. Some water staining is apparent on the ancient horsehide, but to little ill effect. A particularly exciting representation of this essential "duo" ball. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
