1928 Walter Johnson Single Signed Baseball. Just months after the Big Train recorded the last of his 417 career victories, the rocket-armed Hall of Famer applied his 8/10 black fountain pen signature to the sweet spot of the provided ONL (Heydler) ball for a fan. That fan's vintage notation on the side panel dates the meeting to a minor or industrial league's opening day (text is difficult to read) on "May 8, 1928." A later notation on an adjacent panel gifts the ball to a "Russell T. Dufford on July 6, 1940," but it must be stressed that Johnson remains the only autograph on the ball. Johnson singles don't come along often, and this specimen provides eye appeal aplenty, one of the finest we've yet encountered. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
