1928 New York Yankees Team Signed Baseball. Somebody's going to get a bargain here, because this is a genuine World Championship team ball, almost the same squad as the illustrious 1927 Yanks, with very bold autographs from many of the greatest names of the era. Ruth is 9/10 on the sweet spot, and Gehrig is 7/10 on the side panel. Other notables: Durocher (9/10), Combs (6/10), Coveleski (8/10), Durst (8/10), Collins (7/10), Zachary (8/10), Bengough (8/10), Meusel (8/10). Even Ruth's good luck charm, the hunchbacked bat boy Eddie Bennett, is present among the twenty-four genuine Yankee signatures. The bad news? A young kid apparently decided to add some names himself, and these include a few Pennocks, Lazzeri, Huggins and Hoyt (he knew his future Hall of Famers, it would appear). An illegible scribble over the Reach stamping is the kid's as well. We see the glass as half-full though, three-quarters really. A boldly penned team ball from one of the greatest dynasties in baseball history. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.

    The Paddy O'Connor Collection.

This is one of sixteen lots deriving from the personal collection of Paddy O'Connor, a native of County Kerry, Ireland who quickly discovered an aptitude for our National Pastime upon his immigration to the States. O'Connor's baseball career included brief terms in the American, National and Federal Leagues, and most notably membership with the World Championship 1909 Pittsburgh Pirates. The material offered here is consigned directly by the O'Connor family.
