1928 Babe Ruth & Lou Gehrig Dual-Signed Barnstorming Baseball. Only the 1934 Tour of Japan outpaces the Bustin' Babes vs. Larrupin' Lous barnstorming tours of 1927 and 1928 in terms of exhibition baseball fame, with relics from any of those events highly coveted within the collecting populace. Ruth and Gehrig had only eleven days earlier completed the Yankees' four-game World Series sweep of the St. Louis Cardinals when they rolled into Reading, PA for an October 20th contest. One smart fan took that occasion to present the elite slugging tandem with this OAL (Barnard) ball, coming away with signatures rating 5/10 and 6/10 respectively. The fan records that Ruth clubbed two homers that day, and Gehrig one, his personal notations applied in blue along with the date and location of the event. Could this be one of the home run balls? A small spot of toning intersects with the Gehrig signature but otherwise the ball is clear and evenly aged. A fine relic from the greatest era in Yankees history. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
