    Description

1927 Washington Senators Team Signed Baseball with Babe Ruth. Do we dare to dream that this baseball was autographed on the day that Ruth clubbed his sixtieth? It's actually not that much of a stretch. Remember, it the Senators were the victims of that historic clout, and this is unquestionably a 1927 model. Note the appearance of Tris Speaker (3/10) on a side panel--he served only a single term in the capital city. And if there was ever a time to add a member of the enemy camp to a team ball, one could believe Ruth's big day would be it. Also found upon the OAL (Johnson) ball are fellow Hall of Famers Walter Johnson (2/10), Sam Rice (3/10) and Bucky Harris (3/10), who shares the sweet spot with the Babe (9/10). Other notables include Ruel, Marberry, Bluege. Seventeen signatures remain legible, with a few more faded past that point. The ball has been shellacked, and a two-inch gouge just misses Speaker's signature. Certainly not a pristine ball, but the high-grade Ruth autograph and the connection to the team that surrendered his record-setting long ball makes it pure gold regardless. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
