Description

1927 Philadelphia Athletics Team Signed Baseball. Though 1929 would begin Connie Mack's three-season residence atop the American League, many collectors actually prefer the '27 roster as presented here for the inclusion of two legendary veterans who would hang up their spikes before those glory years. Ty Cobb would return for the 1928 season, but this would be the end of the line for Brooklyn Robins superstar Zack Wheat. Each appears in 4/10 ink on this OAL (Johnson) ball along with fellow Hall of Famers Collins (3/10), Grove (7/10), Simmons (6/10) and Cochrane (3/10). Rogers Hornsby is present as well for unknown reasons, and presents at a strength of 7/10 on the sweet spot. Twenty autographs are here in total, rating from 2/10 to 7/10 with an average at the center of that range. A tough and desirable ball from an historic era in our national pastime. LOA from PSA/DNA. LOA from James Spence Authentication.

    Guide Value or Estimate: $3,000 - $5,000.
