    Description

1927 New York Yankees Team Signed Baseball. The convergence of signatures upon the presented OAL (Johnson) baseball from Dutch Ruether (whose pinstriped service dates from his August 1926 trade from the Washington Senators to his retirement at the close of the 1927 season) and Johnny Grabowski (who debuted with the Yanks in 1927) assures the most desirable vintage possible for this team signed sphere. All bu universally considered the greatest baseball team in our National Pastime's long history, the '27 Yanks remain at the top of many collectors' lists, but team signed artifacts are discouragingly scarce. Here we find Murderer's Row in its entirety, with sixty home run man Babe Ruth taking sweet spot honors, and American League MVP Lou Gehrig on the southern panel, joined by the rest of the starting line-up: Combs, Koenig, Gehrig, Meusel, Lazzeri, Dugan, Collins. Each has his position noted after the signature in an unknown hand. Other notables include the exceedingly rare Urban Shocker, Hoyt, Pennock, Paschal, Shawkey, Bengough and more. Eighteen fully legible signatures average 6/10 and include all listed above, while a few others challenge the eye. Surface wear is the culprit in any condition issues, as the fountain pen ink remains very bold throughout. A marvelous find, making its hobby debut within this Signature auction. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
