Description

1927 Babe Ruth Single Signed Baseball. The year 1927 saw the mighty Murderer's Row New York Yankees win the World Series behind one of the most-daunting collection of batsmen to ever play for the same team. That same year Babe Ruth slammed 60 home runs, setting a mark that would not be surpassed until 1961. During that fabled year he also penned his signature to the sweet spot of the offered ONL Spalding baseball. That the signature appears on a National League orb indicates that it may have come from the Bronx Bombers' Fall Classic clash with the Pittsburgh Pirates, who the Yankees easily dispatched in a four game sweep. The signature is stunning and clear and exhibits all of the key features of Ruth autographs of this era. Someone, probably the lucky recipient of the orb, wrote in ink above the signature '1927'. There is additional inking on the panel above the signature. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
