    Description

1927 Babe Ruth & Lou Gehrig with Cleveland Indians Team Signed Baseball. Consigned by the son of the man who acquired the autographs personally, this ball and the original owner were actually featured in a brief news story on WCTI Channel 12 in North Carolina. Bill Gibbons tells the story of attending an Indians/Yankees game at Yankee Stadium, and how when he shook the Babe's hand it completely enveloped his own with its massiveness. Presented is his memento of the occasion, an OAL (Johnson) sphere bearing 8/10 black fountain pen autographs of Ruth and Gehrig ,and twenty-one more including Joe Sewell, Roger Peckinpaugh, Homer Summa, and Lew Fonseca (average 7/10). Decades later Hank Aaron attempted to scratch his name into the coating of shellac with mixed results. Some handling wear on the ball thankfully remains clear of the more important signatures, and does nothing to minimize the enormous appeal of this ball dating to the most significant season in Yankees history. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
