1926 New York Yankees Team Signed Baseball. Though it's not quite as fine as teammate Lou Gehrig's personal example which commanded over $130,000 in our August "Platinum Night" event, this OAL (Johnson) ball from Hank Severeid's estate includes a rare Hall of Famer that Lou's ball didn't. The rare Miller Huggins (4/10) is one of twenty-six autographs commemorating the American League Championship team including notables Ruth (4/10), Gehrig (2/10), Pennock (6/10), Combs (1.5/10), Lazzeri (4/10), Pennock (5/10), Shocker (5/10), Bengough (7/10) and the rare Fred Merkle (9/10), who played in just a single game for the '26 Yanks. Two panels of the ball are quite light while two are significantly bolder, accounting for the rather wide range in autograph quality, but all but a few are readily legible. Still a tough and highly desirable ball once touched by the most iconic Yanks of all. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.

    The Hank Severeid Collection.

This is one of nine lots deriving from the personal collection of Henry "Hank" Severeid, whose baseball career began as a twenty-year old catcher for the 1911 Cincinnati Reds and ended only with his sudden passing while working as a scout for the 1968 Boston Red Sox. A member of the 1925 Senators and 1926 Yankees American League Championship teams, Severeid dedicated over half a century of his life to our National Pastime, and Heritage is pleased to present the following selection of artifacts from his journey. All lots are consigned directly by the Severeid family.

I am completely satisfied, more to the point, absolutely ecstatic, about not only the proceeds but the wonderful professional manner every aspect of my little consignment was handled.
