    Description

1925 Walter Johnson Single Signed Baseball. Just three months after bringing the first and only World Championship to our nation's capital, The Big Train signed this ONL (Heydler) baseball for the son of noted sportswriter Ed Frayne, whose family consigned this baseball and another signed by Babe Ruth and John McGraw to this auction. The sweet spot inscription reads, "To Chuckie Frayne, Best Wishes, Walter Johnson." The all-important signature survives at a boldness of 6/10, but portions of the inscription are a bit difficult to make out. A notation in an unknown hand on the southern panel is very bold, and dates the signature to "Jan. 20th, 1925." The ball exhibits a degree of surface wear garnered over eighty-five years of existence but still presents quite nicely. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
