1925 Hall of Famers Multi-Signed Baseball with Ruth, Johnson, McGraw. Star-studded relic dates to the first game of the 1925 World Series, and a Christy Walsh-sponsored gathering of his clients at Forbes Field. The roster reads like a who's who of sports legends: Babe Ruth, Walter Johnson, John McGraw, Ty Cobb, Kenesaw Mountain Landis (who notates the ball "Pgh Oct 7, 1925")Tris Speaker, Stanley Coveleski, Ring Lardner, Nick Altrock and one other. A vintage coating of shellac has given the ball an amber tone, but has accomplished its intended purpose admirably, maintaining an autograph boldness of 7/10 to 9/10 throughout. The ball derives from the personal collection of famed Pittsburgh Pirates radio announcer Albert Kennedy "Rosey" Rowswell, known to Steeltown fans as "The Voice of the Pirates." Featured in an impressive booklet compiled by the consignor, detailing every bit of history available regarding this ball, is an image of Rowswell's study, where baseballs dangle from strings above his desk like apples on a tree. We encounter two small mounting holes in the horsehide of this baseball, which perfectly match an included staple still attached to a short length of string. With twin A+ grades for vintage and heritage, this is an autograph collector's dream piece. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.Auction Info
