1925-26 New York Yankees Team Signed Baseball. While the eye is naturally drawn to the Babe whenever he appears, we're actually even more intrigued by the sequential pairing of rarities Urban Shocker (6/10) and Miller Huggins (5/10), each of whom would perish suddenly and tragically before the decade's end. The presence among the fifteen discernible signatures of Fred Merkle, infamous for his 1908 "boner," suggests a vintage of either 1925 or 1926, the pinstriped end of his long career. Other notables include the aforementioned Ruth (5/10), Lazzeri (3/10), Gehrig (2/10), Paschal (5/10) and Thomas (4/10). Non-official ball convincingly mimics Official models with its two-tone stitching. Letter of provenance from consignor reports the autographs were obtained by his stepfather, a Washington Post reporter in the 1920's and 1930's. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
