1924 World Series Game Used Baseball Signed by Walter Johnson, Hughie Jennings, Ross Youngs. It's going to be a battle between game used and autographed baseball collectors here, as each camp will find much to love about the presented ONL (Heydler) sphere. The assorted cast of American League Washington Senators and National League New York Giants could only date to the 1924 season's Fall Classic, and an ancient fan's notation, "Caught by A. Mack," assures this ball was no wallflower to the proceedings. Another notation from the fan, the words "Hit By," appears with arrows pointing to Ross Youngs' autograph, suggesting that the foul ball came off the star outfielder's bat. The iconic Big Train, Walter Johnson (4/10), takes appropriate sweet spot honors, while nearby the Hall of Fame pedigree is furthered with the appearance of the aforementioned Ross Youngs (5/10), Frank Frisch (8/10) and the very rare Hughie Jennings (7/10), who was filling in for his ailing friend John McGraw in the managerial position. Other signatures we can discern include the Senators' Earl McNeely and the Giants' Wayland Dean and Jack Bentley. A degree of surface wear has rendered most of the remaining signatures almost illegible, but mercifully the greatest names have been spared the brunt of the trauma. A truly exciting find, pairing some super-tough signatures with delectable game used provenance. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.Auction Info
