1923 New York Yankees Team Signed Baseball. It's the toughest of all twenty-seven Yankee World Championship spheres, and arguably the most significant--there's nothing like the first time! The ball comes to us from the great grandson of Lewis Whistler, a former Major Leaguer himself with the New York Giants (1890-91), Baltimore Orioles (1892), Louisville Colonels (1892-93) and St. Louis Browns (1893). Whistler was visiting his old friend Miller Huggins at the newly constructed Yankee Stadium when he was presented with this OAL (Johnson) sphere as a souvenir.

A dozen autographs adorn its lightly toned hide, most notably a classic quotation-marked "Babe" Ruth on the sweet spot in its most desirable early format. Other notables include Herb Pennock, Charles O'Leary, Bob Meusel, Elmer Smith, Bullet Joe Bush and Doc Woods. Appearing in clubhouse format, but still a rather remarkable addition for his very limited rookie season service, is a twenty-year old Lou Gehrig, accompanied in secretarial format by the man he'd replace, Wally Pipp, as well as Joe Dugan and Bob Shawkey. All autographs range from 5/10 to 7/10 in strength. Included is a letter of provenance from Whistler's great grandson. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication. Letter of provenance from original recipient's great-grandson.
