Description

1922 New York Giants Team Signed Baseball. Only the fourth specimen to reach the auction block of a major house in the past decade, this remarkably scarce team sphere recounts the team which tamed the Yankees during the last season in which the rival tribes shared a Polo Grounds home. The super-tough Ross Youngs (6/10), who would perish at age thirty just five years later, is among the nineteen signature present, as is Casey Stengel (7/10), George Kelly (7/10), Heinie Groh (5/10), Irish Meusel (8/10) and pitching ace Jesse Barnes (8/10). The balance averages perhaps 5/10, though a couple autographs do teeter upon the brink of illegibility. Imperfections must be forgiven in light of the tremendous rarity. A notation in an unknown hand appears to connect the ONL (Heydler) ball to the "Series Giant-Yankee 1922," so Fall Classic game use is a genuine possibility as well. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
