Description

1922 Cincinnati Reds & Chicago Cubs Signed Baseball with Alexander, Rixey. Hall of Fame pitchers Grover Cleveland Alexander and Eppa Rixey faced off to launch the 1922 season at Crosley Field, and though Old Pete would emerge with the seven to three victory, it was Rixey who would take top National League honors at the close of the season with an impressive twenty-five wins. Each legendary hurler is among the thirty-five signatures applied to this retail model ball from a Cincinnati sporting goods shop. Some players only print their names, others apply scripted signatures (as do Alexander and Rixey). Other notable names include Jake Daubert, Dolf Luque, Lew Fonseca, PJ Moran, Babe Pinelli, Bubbles Hargrave, Bill Killefer and many more. Signatures quality ranges from 1/10 to 9/10, with the majority in the higher end of that range. The ball is modestly toned and has a flat spot on one panel where it was stored for decades, but to no significant detriment. A very early multi-team ball including many players rarely encountered upon horsehide. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.

    Guide Value or Estimate: $2,000 - $4,000.

    Learn about consigning with us

What I most appreciated was how thorough you were when we initially met, how you were conservative in your estimates, not trying to get me to consign by giving false expectations, and then for delivering above and beyond on your commitment to me of a wonderful marketing campaign and a first rate catalog and photos, all of which resulted in a final total price realized that was nicely higher than what you had told me to expect.
