1921 Connie Mack Signed Baseball. Major League Baseball's version of Methuselah was just a spritely fifty-nine when he decorated this OAL (Johnson) ball with his 9+/10 black fountain pen signature, establishing this as the earliest Mack "single" we've ever encountered. We put "single" in quotation marks because some heavy scuffing between Mack's signature and his handwritten date of "Sept. 26, 1921" might possibly have been another autograph, though it's more likely an inscription or personalization of some sort. This blemish does little to derail the considerable appeal, however, from a ball dating to the period between the Athletics' first and second great World Championship dynasties. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
