1921-22 New York Yankees Team Signed Baseball. The past and the future of the mighty long ball collide upon this exceedingly rare team sphere dating to either 1921 or 1922, the only two seasons during which Frank "Home Run" Baker and George Herman "Babe" Ruth shared a New York Yankees dugout. Experienced Yankee collectors are well aware that team balls from the first two American League Championship seasons are a profoundly endangered species. In fact, fewer than five team balls from these two years are known to survive to this day, each in major private collections and unlikely to reenter the collecting market anytime soon.

The presented OAL (Johnson) ball exhibits the manner of surface wear one would expect for a baseball rapidly approaching its ninetieth birthday, rendering the signatures of Ruth and Baker a 5/10 and 3/10 respectively. The balance of the signers: Hoyt (8/10), Miller (3/10), McNally (4/10), Meusel (7/10), Mays (7/10), Huggins (1/10), Ward (2/10), Schang (2/10), Shawkey (2/10). The imperfections must be forgiven, however, in light of the extraordinary scarcity of the offering. We do not hesitate to suggest that this offering may be a once in a lifetime opportunity, and serious Yankee collectors are advised to bid with this distinct possibility in mind. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
