1920's Rabbit Maranville Single Signed Baseball. With the name "Walter James Vincent Maranville," you'd think a guy would have enough real names to choose from. But "Rabbit" got pegged with his nickname early on due to his size (5'5" & 155 lbs.) and speed. He also was one of the most steady and consistent players of his era, appearing in a record twenty-three seasons in the National League through 1935. The shortstop played for six teams but his lone championship was with the 1914 Boston Braves.

Passing away in 1954, Maranville missed the large scale autograph collecting period, making single signed baseballs especially rare. This particular orb may have been game used as it exhibits heavy dirt, scuffing and wear. The ball is also inscribed with the date "Oct. 4, 192?" in an unknown hand just under Maranville's sweet spot signature. The signature is in fountain pen and shows slight fading in "Rabbit," but maintains a 6/10 quality overall.
