1910's-30's Hank Severeid Personal Baseball Collection Lot of 11. Intriguing offering is one short of an even dozen, the balls running the gamut from noteworthy game balls to autographed spheres. 1) Well-worn ball artfully notated "Cincy Reds 1913." Game info is written but too worn to read. 2) Gold-painted ball reading "Henry Severeid Home Run, April 17th, 1915." 3) Shellacked Pacific Coast League baseball, not notated. 4) Pacific League Ball notated "Hank hit this ball over left field fence--August 23-28 at Sacramento." 5) OAL (Johnson) ball with notation, illegible. 6) Very faded 1934 team signed Texas League baseball. 7) OAL (Johnson) ball with printed text, "From Hank Severeid to Adele Messmer, June 23, 1920." 8) St. Louis Missions team signed Texas League ball. Faded signatures but Severeid readily legible. Dated "June 6, 1935." 9) Another ball essentially identical to number 8. 10) OAL (Johnson) ball notated, "This ball went over fence for home run, Cardinals, April 3, 1922, Browns vs. Cardinals, April ?, Browns 6 Cardinals 5." 11) OAL (Johnson) very faded team signed baseball, illegible.

    The Hank Severeid Collection.

This is one of nine lots deriving from the personal collection of Henry "Hank" Severeid, whose baseball career began as a twenty-year old catcher for the 1911 Cincinnati Reds and ended only with his sudden passing while working as a scout for the 1968 Boston Red Sox. A member of the 1925 Senators and 1926 Yankees American League Championship teams, Severeid dedicated over half a century of his life to our National Pastime, and Heritage is pleased to present the following selection of artifacts from his journey. All lots are consigned directly by the Severeid family.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
