    Description

1908 Hughie Jennings Single Signed Game Used Baseball. Let us begin by stating that the authenticators have determined that all writing on this ball, including Jennings' autograph, were enhanced decades ago and sealed in shellac by an early collector. We prefer to see this glass as half-full however, as the black fountain pen writing is ultra-bold, and the American League Championship season game use is obviously unaffected. The side panel inscription reads, "Compliments of Hughie Jennings, Detroit B.B. Club," segueing to a romantic notion on the adjacent panel, "May we be the same to each other as we are at this time, HJ & NP." A third panel announces "Detroit 10, Chicago 5, June 28th, 1908," with a notation reading "[illegible] Home Run," suggesting this was a ball saved for that reason. The final panel appears to read "Pitchers Detroit Mullin Summers, Chicago [illegible] Walsh." Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
