Baseball Legends Single Signed Baseballs Lot Of 3. A wonderful grouping of baseball legends have added their signatures to Official Major league baseballs. The first ball comes from Cardinal legend Marty Marion, who signed ONL (B. White) ball on the sweet spot and added the notation, M.V.P 1944. As a shortstop, Marion was synonymous with St. Louis baseball until the appearance of Ozzie Smith. It's clear that Marion wasn't flashy as Smith, but at 6 ft 2 in and 170 pounds , he disproved the theory that shortstops had to be small men. Nicknamed "Slats", Marion had unusually long arms which reached for grounders like tentacles, prompting sportswriters to call him "The Octopus". The second ball bears the signature of Ralph Houk who signed a OML (Selig) ball on the sweet spot. Houk was a back up to Yogi Berra with the Yankees, and a General Manager for the team. He also enjoyed a very successful career as a manager. He has the rare honor of being a part of nine World Series Champions. The final ball(1995 All Star Ball) has been signed by Hall of Famer Lee MacPhail, who has added his HOF year 1998. MacPhail joined his father Larry MacPhail in the Hall of Fame, as the only father and son members. With the death of Phil Rizzuto on August 14, 2007, he is now the oldest living Hall of Fame member.
