Description1991 Stan Musial Signed Speech Note Honoring Lech Walesa & 1952 Original News Photograph. It is not often a world leader and Baseball Hall of Famer are linked in one collectible. An electrician by trade, Lech Walesa was a prominent Polish activist who headed the Soviet Union's first independent trade union, won the 1983 Nobel Peace Prize, and served as the president of Poland from 1990-95. During a state visit to the United States in March 1991, he met with president George H. Bush, after which he made stops in Los Angeles, Chicago and New York City. While in the Windy City, he was honored at an event where Stan Musial made a short presentation. On offer here is The Man's hand written and signed speech notes from that day. Stan's NRMT blue ballpoint cursive on green paper (5.5x3.5") reads: "To Lech Walesa -- Your fight for freedom & democracy gave hope to millions of people. Stan Musial." Includes a 1952 original news photograph (8x10") of Musial in a batting pose. Detroit News stamp on back with caption: "...the world's greatest ball player." Auction LOA from SGC Authentic.
