The finest Miracle Mets signed piece on Earth?

1969 New York Mets Vintage Team Signed Jerry Grote Game Issued Bat. Just seven years after redefining Major League ineptitude during its inaugural 1962 season, the Amazin' Mets stood atop the baseball world as victors in the 1969 Fall Classic. Though the Mets would return to glory in 1986 as the beneficiary of the Curse of the Bambino, this 1969 squad is widely and properly considered the most important edition in franchise history, and here we present the ultimate autographed keepsake from its roster. No fewer than thirty-one Miracle Mets have autographed this game-issued Jerry Grote signature model Louisville Slugger, outpacing all but a handful of team signed relics for population alone.

But the bulging census is only one of the feathers in the cap, as the black marker autographs are not only vintage to the period (as opposed to the vast majority of reunion-signed collectibles) but all but pristine in condition. Not a single autograph dips below a conservative 8/10 in strength, each effectively unchanged from the date of application. The list of signers:

Agee, Berra, Boswell, Cardwell, Charles, Clendenon, Di Lauro, Dyer, Garrett, Gaspar, Gentry, Grote, Harrelson, Hodges, Jones, Koonce, Koosman, Kranepool, Martin, McAndrew, McGraw, Pfeil, Pignatano, Ryan, Seaver, Shamsky, Swoboda, Taylor, Walker, Weis, Yost.

Our auction results database finds just one other example of a vintage-signed 1969 Mets bat, a retail model Adirondack with weaker autographs that commanded $11,500 in the famous 1999 Barry Halper auction. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
