1969 Mickey Mantle Day Signed Display. The many millions of fans who idolized the kid from Commerce remember this event with a poignant sadness, as the Mick announced that he finally understood, in the glow of Yankee Stadium's adoring farewell, how Lou Gehrig could have considered himself "the luckiest man on the face of the earth" thirty years earlier at his own goodbye to the Bronx. This stunning display, expertly rendered in dignified deep brown leather, wood framing and museum quality glass, compiles all of the important components from that summer of 1969. Traveling clockwise from top left, we find: a wire photograph announcing Mantle's retirement, a "Sport Magazine" doing the same, a signed program from the event with "No. 7" notation (10/10 blue sharpie), a photograph of the event, an oversized button (4" diam.) sold at the Stadium that day, a very tough ticket stub for the event, and a souvenir pennant sold that day. All components remain in magnificent NRMT condition. Finally, an engraved plaque at bottom center makes note of all of the major milestones of Mantle's storied Hall of Fame career, with career statistics. Guaranteed to be the most tastefully executed display in your collection, and almost certainly one of your favorites as well. Framed dimensions 35x40". LOA from PSA/DNA. LOA from James Spence Authentication.More information about Mickey Mantle.
