    Description

1969 Harmon Killebrew 31st Home Run & 100th RBI of Season Baseball. Battle-scarred OAL (Cronin) baseball was recovered from beyond the outfield wall for the superstar Minnesota Twins slugger during his 1969 American League MVP season and notated at the time in Killebrew's hand on the side panel "31, 100 RBI." Clearly Killer came upon the souvenir in his home some years later, signing the sweet spot and notating another panel, "I hit this ball for my 31st HR & 100th RBI 19__." It would seem that the Hall of Fame long ball artist couldn't recall the exact year he made that first notation, leaving the last two digits of the vintage in his later inscription absent. But a review of his stat lines indicate that Killebrew reached the triple-digit RBI mark with a thirty-first homer in only one season, the greatest of his career. The seventh-inning blast victimized Baltimore Orioles ace Mike Cuellar at Metropolitan Stadium on August 2, 1969, a solo shot that concluded the scoring in a six-to-five loss to the eventual American League Champs. Just the second Killebrew home run baseball we've handled, the first garnering $10,755 in our February 2014 Platinum Night auction. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
