    Description

1966 Casey Stengel Signed New York Mets Contract. Seventy-five years old, and his managerial duties handed over to Wes Westrum, Casey continued to serve the Mets in the capacity of "Executive-Scout," for which he was paid the rather generous sum of $50,000 annually. This is the only contract from the Stengel collection dating to his service of the Metropolitans, and is likewise the only one to show noteworthy wear. It appears to have been caught in a flood, leaving the document stained, lightly torn at the spine and a bit scuffed. Still the authorizing signatures of George Weiss, now a Met, and "Charles D. Stengel" are as pretty as can be, as is the rather tough Warren Giles signature on the front. Three signatures, three Hall of Famers. You can't complain about that! LOA from PSA/DNA. LOA from James Spence Authentication.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
