    Description

1961 Mickey Mantle & Roger Maris Signed Wire Photograph. While the autographs date from years after the home run chase that consumed the Bronx fan base for most of the 1961 season, the wire photo that holds them derives from the thick of that campaign, noting that the pair has already accumulated seventy-nine homers as of the July 28th issue. The eventual victor of the friendly battle signs in 9/10 blue ballpoint ink, with the Mick a shade darker in pristine black felt tip. While this pair is quite tough and tremendously desirable in any format, their appearance on a vintage wire photo that documents the 1961 home run chase carries much added weight. Photo measures 7x9" in size, with tape at edges of verso but no noteworthy condition flaws. LOA from PSA/DNA. LOA from James Spence Authentication.
