    Description

1958-59 Roberto Clemente Signed Puerto Rican Winter League Contract. Though Clemente would earn two World Championships and Hall of Fame immortality in the Major Leagues, he remained faithful to his Puerto Rican homeland throughout his tragically short life, returning at the close of the regular season to play Winter ball for his countrymen. Here we find his contract to join the Caguas-Guayama club for the 1958-59 campaign, service that would pay just $800/month, a pittance compared to the $20,000 earned for his 1958 Pittsburgh Pirates term.

The Spanish-language document appears in its standard four-page format, one nearly identical to the "Uniform Players Contract" utilized in the Majors for decades. Clemente's distinctive signature consenting the the terms of the agreement appears at the bottom of page two, his autograph and address below applied with unimprovable 10/10 boldness. Signatures of team officials likewise appear. The document exhibits general handling wear and a few minor areas of foxing, with filing punch holes at top edge, but no flaws of any significance. Certainly one of the most significant baseball artifacts to emerge from the island nation. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.

Just wanted to let you know how pleased I am regarding the sale of my hockey jersey. You were great to work with, you answered all my phone calls and e-mails in a prompt manner, and you did a great job marketing the jersey.
