    Description

1956 Milwaukee Braves Uniform Player's Contracts Lot of 46 with Aaron, Mathews, Spahn. Surprisingly comprehensive grouping of fully executed contracts includes everyone from the club's Hall of Fame legends all the way down to the bit players and bench riders. Direct from management's filing cabinets comes this thrilling ensemble, predating by just a single season the team's sole World Championship campaign as residents of the state of Wisconsin. Hammerin' Hank signed for the bargain-basement salary of $17,500, and would go on to lead the National League in both batting average (.328) and homers (34) in 1956. Eddie Mathews seems to benefit either from an added two years of seniority or his paler skin tone with a $50,000 salary. The veteran Warren Spahn tops both at $55,000. Each (and the balance of the contracts) is signed by player, the Braves GM John Quinn and National League president Warren Giles. The contracts were executed and then filed in storage, and thus appear essentially unchanged from their origination. A fascinating archive. Full list below:

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
