    Description

1956 Dwight Eisenhower Signed Letter to Phil Rizzuto. One of the more interesting pieces to make its first hobby appearance in the 2006 auction of Hall of Fame shortstop Phil Rizzuto's personal collection, this typed letter on White House letterhead is directed to the newly retired Yankee from the President. Ike writes, in part, "I know you will be just as successful in your 'civilian' life as you were as one of the stars of the Yankees." Eisenhower's closing signature is rendered in the boldest of black fountain pen ink. Page exhibits original mailing fold but no other issues of note. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
