1955 Ty Cobb Handwritten Double-Signed Letter with Signed Mailing Envelope. The Georgia Peach exhausts himself with a long and spirited five-page diatribe about the injustices he has faced at the hands of malicious and/or misinformed sportswriters. Penned in his favored green ink at his Menlo Park, CA home on his personal letterhead, the letter encourages the recipient to refer to the books of statistics for truth, as opposed to the scandalous words of muckraking journalists. He saves his greatest wrath for one particular writer, his text providing the first of two Cobb signatures: "Schor is one man I would have taken to court, when conferred with a lawyer but remember anyone can write a book or story and if they say for instance The Story of Ty Cobb (big letters) and then use very small 'by' Gene Schor if Schor is a bum and has nothing one cannot do anything except publicity which draws public's attention and curiousity (sic) also increase sales of book..." He closes the letter with a "Sincerely, Ty Cobb," and then adds a postscript in which he states with exasperation "You can write me but I cannot answer anymore." All ink rates 9/10 or better, and letter exhibits original mailing folds but no other issues worthy of mention. Also here is the original mailing envelope, address in Cobb's hand and signed "T.R. Cobb" on verso (6/10 due to some bleeding of the ink from moisture). Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.More information about Ty Cobb.

Just wanted to let you know how pleased I am regarding the sale of my hockey jersey. You were great to work with, you answered all my phone calls and e-mails in a prompt manner, and you did a great job marketing the jersey.View More Testimonials
