1952 Jackie Robinson Handwritten Signed Letter. A fine personal letter from this most significant of baseball heroes dates to the early weeks of Robinson's third National League Championship season with the Brooklyn Dodgers. He writes to a woman named "Mrs. Caroline Wallerstein" in Chicago, regretfully declining an invitation to stop by on an upcoming road trip, presumably against the Cubs. Robinson explains, "I have to prepare for my show and it will keep me close to the hotel waiting for instructions," adding, "Rae is due very shortly and is in fine spirits." This is clearly in reference to the impending birth of Jackie's son David in early May. The single page of personal letterhead presents perfectly, with only original mailing folds to note. All writing, including the closing "Jackie Robinson" autograph, is 9/10 or better. Included is the original mailing envelope, also filled out in Robinson's hand but with no return address, postmarked "Apr 27 1952." Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
