    Description

1951 Ty Cobb Handwritten & Signed Letter to Clyde Milan. The legendary Dead Ball star pens a letter of apology to his old friend for failing to greet him in person during a visit to Griffith Stadium where Milan was serving as a Washington Senators coach. "I was moved around by others," he explains, "I had to go to press box, Arch McDonald, then to Griffs office to meet Justice Vinson, so between Griff & Del Webb I had little to say...I want you to know it, for you know well what I would like to have done and where I would like to have been at least for a few minutes with you, one who I have always thought so much of." Letter is penned on two pages of Cobb's personal letterhead in his traditional green ink at an average 9+/10 boldness, and signed "As ever, Ty." Original mailing envelope is here, addressed but not signed by Cobb. Letter exhibits original mailing folds but no other issues. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
