    Description

1951 Rogers Hornsby Signed Letter to Max Carey, PSA/DNA Gem Mint 10. One of the game's greatest hitters writes to one of the game's greatest base thieves regarding the latter's request for a coaching job with the St. Louis Browns. Hornsby would manage just fifty-one games for the Browns the next season before a player revolt over his harsh tactics drove him from the post. Carey had just finished a lengthy term of service in both the front office and managerial positions for the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. Message is typed on Browns team letterhead and signed by Hornsby in 10/10 blue ink, as rated by PSA/DNA. Original mailing folds, otherwise NRMT. Full Grading LOA from PSA/DNA, Gem Mint 10. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
