1951 New York Yankees Team Signed Baseball, PSA NM 7 from the Casey Stengel Collection. Though Stengel has penned "1950 World Champions" along with his autograph in the space surrounding Joe DiMaggio's secretarial sweet spot signature, the appearance of Mickey Mantle's signature just to the left leaves no doubt as to this sphere's 1951 vintage. One could even logically conclude that such an inscription on the Ol' Perfesser's part would only come very early in the season, potentially even in spring training, establishing that we have here one of the earliest Mickey Mantle autographs as a New York Yankee. Twenty-one fellow teammates join this Hall of Fame trio, highlighted by Berra, Rizzuto, Silvera, Lopat, Bauer, Houk, McDougald, Woodling, Sain and Reynolds. Signature quality ranges from 7/10 to 9/10, with those enshrined at Cooperstown near the top of that scale. The OAL (Harridge) ball that serves as home for these historic autographs is lightly and evenly toned, with Stengel's number "37" penned over the "Reach" logo for identification. The authenticators at PSA have designated the autographs as 8 and the ball as 6, for the combined grade as listed. The ball has been encapsulated in a special PSA ball cube with a "Stengel Collection" label, noting the impressive NM 7 status. A full PSA/DNA letter of authenticity attesting to the Stengel provenance is included as well.
